Meishan Island is the only island township in the southeast sea within Beilun District, Ningbo City. It faces Zhitouyang Sea in the east, is close to Tingzui Port in the south, and faces Fodu Island and Liuheng Island of Zhoushan City across the sea. It is backed by the fourth-phase wharf of Ningbo Port in the north. It is the only piece of undeveloped land in Beilun District. Meishan Island is embedded in the East China Sea, like a sea garden. It is adjacent to Putuo Mountain, the Buddhist kingdom on the sea. It is currently the only island in Ningbo City that retains marine wetlands. Meishan is surrounded by the sea on all sides and is famous for ‘silver coating’ (seabeach and salt pan) and ‘three flowers’ (salt flower, plum blossom, and fish flower). It is called a ‘colorful world’ by experts. The vast seabeach is rich in various rare seafood. The boundless salt pan has given birth to a long history of salt culture. The Qinglong Island and Pushé Island on the east side of Meishan Island have a different island style. They are good places for surfing, beachcombing, gathering oysters, digging razor clams, watching migratory birds and camping. Meishan Island is suitable for various leisure and vacation activities. Fashionable and exciting water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, skateboarding, surfing, water motorcycles, and yachts are all thrilling and make people laugh heartily. Sea fishing methods such as rock fishing, boat fishing, and trolling can all make people relaxed and return with a full load. During the day, go to sea with fishermen, ride the wind and waves and fish by boat. At night, light a bonfire by the sea, eat fisherman’s meals, stay in fisherman’s houses, fully watch and participate in fisherman’s folk performances, sing and dance, and experience fisherman’s style firsthand.
Open all year round and open all day.
