Zhuqiao Ancient Village is a famous historical and cultural village in China. It is the birthplace and main printing place of ‘Jinxi Books’. There are currently two woodblock printing workshops preserved in the village. There are many ancient woodblock engravings left. There are complete woodblocks of ‘Three-Character Classic’, ‘Hundred Family Surnames’, and ‘Collected Annotations on the Four Books’ preserved, which can still be directly printed and bound into thread-bound ancient books and are of great value. There are 109 ancient buildings in the village, including ancestral halls, academies, woodblock printing workshops, and the study and residence of officials who returned to their hometowns after retiring. There are five ancestral halls, four gate towers, three ancient wells, two ancient woodblock printing workshops, and one ‘Tianrenben’ road. The implication of the concept of ‘harmony between heaven and man’ and ‘people-oriented’ is rare in China. There are seven ponds. One pond in the middle is crescent-shaped, forming the image of ‘seven stars accompanying the moon’, reflecting the unique pond culture of Zhuqiao. In Zhuqiao, one can experience a journey through historical time and space. The villagers are dressed in ancient costumes and restore scenes such as idyllic pastoral songs, the return of the number one scholar, big bowl tea, and woodblock printing among the ancient alleys and ancient buildings. Walking in the secluded stone alleys of the ancient village, along the way, villagers can be seen sipping tea and listening to operas, drinking and playing chess, or hawking along the street. There are also antique tea bars, book bars, blacksmith shops, and tofu workshops. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:30.
