Zherong Yuanyang Grassland

Zherong Yuanyang Grassland, located approximately 5 kilometers from the county town of Zherong, is a vast grassland area of about 5000 acres, surrounded by a mix of broadleaf and coniferous forests. From the heart of the grassland, the distant mountains resemble miniature artificial clay sculptures, like delicate bonsai. Standing at the high point of the grassland, ‘Yuanyang Peak,’ one can look around and see the vast East China Sea merging with the sky to the east, where on clear mornings, the sun can be seen rising from the horizon. To the south, one can gaze upon the entirety of the peak ‘Muhaijian’ (elevation 1192.4 meters) at the border of Zherong and Xiapu, with the vast smoke and waves of the strait beyond. Looking westward, one can see the nearby Nanshan of Zherong (elevation 1301.7 meters) and, in the distance, the World Geopark ‘Baiyun Mountain’ (elevation 1450.2 meters) amidst the continuous mountain ranges. To the north, the main peak of the Taimu Mountain range, ‘Dongshi Mountain’ (elevation 1479 meters), presents a scene of clouds and rosy clouds. In spring, the continuous grasslands burst into bloom with azaleas of light purple, red, and white, competing with the wildflowers that cover the mountains, attracting many bees and colorful butterflies to dance freely. Being in this environment can make one’s heart bloom with joy. In summer, the lush green hills merge with the blue sky and white clouds, and everywhere one looks is a natural painting, refreshing and pleasing to the spirit. In autumn, the rolling grasslands are dotted with silver grass flowers, swaying their slender figures in the breeze. In winter, the reddish grasslands contrast sharply with the surrounding green broadleaf and coniferous mixed forests. If a fortunate snowfall occurs, the grasslands are adorned in silver, adding to the joy.
