Xianren City, also known as Xian Yan, is a towering peak with steep cliffs on all sides, located to the east of the Luxi River. From a distance, it appears formidable. The mountain is riddled with caves and stone wells, surrounded by lush forests and tall bamboos, creating a scene of clouds and rosy clouds.
This mountain is named Xianr Cheng because it has been the dwelling place of ‘immortals’ since ancient times. During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the fourth-generation Heavenly Master Zhang Sheng built a temple on the summit of this mountain, which is now known as ‘Dou Shi Gong’, where a statue of Laozi was sculpted to chant his merits.

In the Song Dynasty, during the Xingning period, Master Baoyue, a Zen master from Pucheng, came here to build a temple, which thrived with incense. In April 2002, a rare artifact was discovered at the top of Xian Yan – a seven-tiered ‘Ling Han’, inscribed with the words ‘Bao Yue Xing Yuan, Xin Ji Jing Kong’. The Tang Dynasty’s great poet Gu Kuang’s poem ‘Looking at Xianr City from Anren Port’ depicts Xianr City as a place of ethereal beauty, evoking a sense of longing.

Now, the ‘Xianfeng Bridge’ spanning the cliffs and the mountainous walking trails have been fully connected. Standing at the summit, one can take in the majestic view of the ninety-nine peaks of Longhu Mountain, resembling ‘a thousand-foot cloud cliff, where the white lotus of the fairy city blooms; lingering at the top, the scenery surpasses Penglai’. The scenic area is open all year round from 08:00 to 18:00.
