Nestled amidst the Siming Mountains, 20 kilometers southwest of the Hemudu site, lies an ancient and picturesque village known as Song’ao Village. Comprising three natural hamlets, it is situated at the source of the Yao River, under the jurisdiction of the Lu Bu Town. Lu Bu has been renowned for its scenic landscapes, fertile land, pleasant climate, rich culture, and abundant resources.

As one ascends along the stream in Song’ao Village, one can witness the flight of creek birds, the crawl of stone crabs, and the leap of loaches. In the past, with fish flowing in the water and people walking on the roads, the terraced fields, morning mists, and sunsets offered an overwhelming beauty.
Upon reaching the bottom of the village, also the source of the stream, one can appreciate the scenery at the origin of the Lu Bu Reservoir. The source of the Lu Bu Reservoir is the origin of the Yao River, which in turn is the origin of the Ningbo Yong River. Above these three sources, the taste of the water is naturally rare.
At the bottom of the village, there are about 20 households belonging to the same Fang family. This area features old ancestral halls, old wooden and stone houses, small stream docks, and ducks enjoying the warm water, making it the backyard garden of Song’ao Village and a true Shangri-La of Eastern Zhejiang. The village is open all day, every day from January 1st to December 31st.
