Yue E Wang Temple

The Yue E Wang Temple is located on Guayu in the southeast of Mozhiyan. There is a small island on the surface of Dongqian Lake that is shaped like a watermelon and is also called Guayu. There is an ancient temple on Guayu, surrounded by greenery and set off by red walls. It was once called the Watermelon Temple. The main deity in the Watermelon Temple is majestic and imposing, with an aura that overwhelms mountains and rivers. This is still the national hero Yue Fei. The Yue E Wang Temple has gone through the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and has been renovated and abandoned many times. The current Yuewang Temple was rebuilt in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1784) and is a well-preserved Jiangnan temple building. The central axis of the building is divided into three parts: the front foyer, the middle hall, and the back hall. All the stone couplets and hangings here are original items from the Qing Dynasty. Among them, the four characters ‘Zanxiang Qin Hua’ are the handwriting of Jin Nong, one of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. The current Yue E Wang Temple scenic area also includes Lakeside Park, Wang Anshi Park, etc. Opening hours: 1/1-12/31, open from 08:00 to 16:30.
