Yongfengku Ruins Park

The Yongfengku Ruins Park is the site of an ancient large warehouse and was also selected as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries in China in 2002. In 2001, a real estate developer was preparing to invest in a commercial and residential building here. However, during the routine exploration before development, the archaeological team unexpectedly discovered a large-scale ancient architectural site and a large number of porcelain fragments here. After extensive research and verification, it was found that from the Southern Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, this place had always been a storage institution for government offices. Its predecessor was the official granary ‘Changpingcang’ in the Southern Song Dynasty. In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it was the location of Yongfengku and Hongjiku, fully demonstrating that Ningbo is an important trading port on China’s ancient Maritime Silk Road. Later, the government spent 60 million yuan to repurchase this land and allocated funds for archaeological excavation. Only then was this precious relic finally preserved. Now, an open urban park has been built here. When you stroll along the wooden plank road and admire the foundations and rivers restored 1:1 according to the initial state of the ruins, you can still seem to feel the busy scene in the warehouse at that time.
