Wu Jie’s Former Residence, constructed during the 21st year of the Guangxu era, is a representative building from Wu Jie’s tenure in Zhenhai. The main house, facing south, consists of three rooms with two alleys on the sides, forming a separate courtyard. It is located at the intersection of Shengli Road and People’s Road in Zhenhai City, divided into two compounds, each with a gate, front hall, back hall, and side rooms. The front hall is five rooms wide and has nine rafters in depth, with a porch in the front and back, featuring double-eaved roofed buildings; the front and back halls serve as living rooms, three rooms wide and seven rafters in depth, with a front porch and back corridor. Both are double-eaved roofed buildings with hard mountain tops, and are relatively well-preserved. Outside the main gate, to the west of the side room, there are three additional rooms, then turning south, there are two gatekeeper’s rooms. Adjacent to the west side of Wu’s residence are civilian houses, with the main house also having a layout of three rooms and two alleys, forming a Mingtang courtyard. Further south, there are several street-level houses used for entrance and miscellaneous rooms. Between the two residences, along People’s Road, there are three more residential buildings. Since the 1980s, the government has carried out old city renovations, demolishing the old houses between the two residences and constructing a backyard garden for visitors to rest and enjoy. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
