Waipokeng Village is located in Jingling Town, Xinchang County. It is at the junction of Shengzhou, Dongyang and Pan’an. It is 45 kilometers away from Xinchang County seat. There are 158 households and 520 people in the whole village. There are people from 10 ethnic minorities such as Miao, Dai and Bai. Waipokeng Village has a good original ecological natural environment, well-preserved ancient buildings and unique ethnic folk customs. Entering the simple and tidy village, along the winding path, the brook flows潺潺. Green peaks stand on both sides, just like a peaceful and distant landscape painting. In recent years, Waipokeng Village has vigorously developed rural leisure tourism. Tourist attractions such as ethnic customs park, long corridor of red footprints, ancestral memorial hall in ancient village and folk custom museum have been completed. By taking advantage of ethnic characteristics and building ethnic brands, it has taken a rural leisure road with ethnic characteristics in enjoying ethnic customs, eating ethnic dishes and living in ethnic dwellings. From the former “No. 1 village of bachelors”, it has become a well-known “Jiangnan ethnic village” today. At present, there are 6 farmhouse inns in Waipokeng Village, with 400 dining seats and 80 beds. The tourist distribution center is also under construction, which will greatly improve the tourism reception capacity. Open all year round and open all day.
