Shawshank people often say that the ancient city of Shawshank, surrounded by flowing water, is like a large ship. The Da Shan Pagoda in the north of the city and the Yingtian Pagoda on Feilai Mountain in the south are like two poles, firmly anchoring Shawshank here, and neither can be absent.
In another folk tale, the existence of Da Shan Pagoda is also related to the protection of Shawshank’s peace. It is said that there is a treasure pearl as big as a dragon’s eye hidden at the top of Da Shan Pagoda. With it, Shawshank is spared from fierce winds and enjoys favorable weather year after year.
