Sanjiangkou is where the Yongjiang, Yaojiang, and Fenghuajiang rivers converge, and it is also the heart of Ningbo. The river divides Ningbo into three districts: Jiangdong, Haishu, and Jiangbei, connected by bridges such as Yongjiang Bridge. This area has been a gathering place for merchants throughout the ages. Not only can you see the dense urban landscape, but the neon-lit nightscape is also intoxicating.
Public transportation in Sanjiangkou is highly developed, allowing you to reach almost any destination. Accommodations are more concentrated in Haishu, where hotels of various grades can be easily found. On the Jiangbei Bund, European-style old buildings have been transformed into various chic tea houses, bars, and cafes, making it a more fashionable area of Ningbo. The Ningbo City Exhibition Hall and Ningbo Art Museum, converted from old docks on the riverside Cultural Plaza, are worth a visit. The Jiangbei Catholic Church at the Bund intersection was also a landmark building.

The Tianyi Square in Haishu, just one stop away from the Bund, is a concentrated area for shopping and food in Ningbo. It takes only about ten minutes to walk. If you are tired from shopping, sitting by the river is very pleasant. If you pass by Tianyi Square at night, don’t miss the musical fountain. Surrounding Tianyi Square, the old town of Ningbo retains many historical buildings with rich cultural atmosphere, such as the Drum Tower, City God Temple, Yuehu Park, and Tianyi Pavilion, all within a 10-minute drive or about a 30-minute walk. Tianyi Pavilion is one of the oldest existing private libraries in China and is a scholarly Jiangnan garden.
