Former Residence of Rou Shi

Rou Shi (1902 – 1931) is from Ninghai County, Zhejiang Province. In 1927, he returned to his hometown and taught at Ninghai Middle School. Rou Shi’s original name is Zhao Pingfu. In front of his house, there was once a small stone bridge engraved with ‘Golden Bridge, Rou Shi’. Therefore, he once used ‘Rou Shi’ and ‘Golden Bridge’ as his pen names. His representative works include the novellas ‘February’ and ‘Three Sisters’, and the short story ‘Mother as a Slave’. The former residence of Rou Shi is located in Ximen, Chengguan, Ninghai, Zhejiang. The four characters ‘Former Residence of Rou Shi’ were inscribed by Xu Guangping, the wife of Lu Xun, in January 1960. To commemorate Rou Shi, a Rou Shi Memorial Hall is set up in the former residence of Rou Shi. In Rou Shi Middle School, there is a Rou Shi monument and a Rou Shi pavilion. In Yuelong Middle School, there is a Rou Shi building. On the west side of Taoyuan Middle Road to the east of Chengbei Middle School, a Rou Shi Park has been established. Opening hours: open from 08:30 to 11:30 and from 13:00 to 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year; closed all day on Monday throughout the year.
