The Wai Tan Bridge in Ningbo City is an important component of the ‘Five Roads and Four Bridges’ project, a key construction project in Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City. It is an important municipal infrastructure project for improving transportation capabilities in Ningbo City, in line with the city’s overall plan.

The Wai Tan Bridge, which is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in October 2010, plays a significant role in alleviating the traffic bottleneck across the river in the central urban area, strengthening the connection between the central urban areas, and easing the city’s ‘travel difficulty’ problem. It also contributes to the balanced development between urban areas and plays an important role in further improving the traffic environment in the Jiangbei District and perfecting the traffic network. It is an important initiative for Ningbo City to implement the ‘Central Upgrading’ strategy.
