Xuedou Mountain Mahe Hall

Mahe Hall is located on the north side of Caishen Temple Lane, at the intersection with Zhongma Road in Xikou Town, Fenghua City, Zhejiang Province. It serves as a memorial ancestral hall for the Jiang family to commemorate their second-generation ancestor, Jiang Zongba. Jiang Zongba, a person from the Later Liang Dynasty during the Zhenyuan era of the Five Dynasties, was a devout Buddhist who often chanted ‘Mahayana Prajna Paramita’, hence the title ‘Mahe Layman’. As a Buddhist hall for the Jiang family women to worship and recite scriptures, the main hall faces west with yellow walls and green tiles, whitewashed walls, and reddish corridors, with two two-story wing rooms on each side, each with 11 rooms. Behind the hall, there is a courtyard paved with pebbles. It was funded for restoration in 1989. Adjacent to the hall, there are three ancient camphor trees. Facing east and west, Mahe Hall features yellow walls and green tiles, with whitewashed and reddish corridors, and eleven rooms on each side. Inside the main hall, there is a standing statue of Jiang Zongba, and the walls on both sides display the historical traces of Mahe Hall. In a single-story building to the east, there are displayed life photographs of Mao Fumei and the Jiang father and son.
