The First School in Jiangnan is mainly composed of two parts: a museum and a guild hall. The museum has one comprehensive exhibition and six thematic exhibitions. The comprehensive exhibition presents an outline-style display of the development history of Ningbo Gang from the Tang and Song Dynasties, inherited in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, transformed in the Republic of China, and integrated in the contemporary era. The thematic exhibitions are classified and centralized displays of the achievements of Ningbo Gang in shipping, finance, commerce, industry, education and other fields. As the main activity place and spiritual home for people of Ningbo origin at home and abroad, the guild hall aims to enhance the friendship, nostalgia and love for hometown among the new and old Ningbo Gang. The First School in Jiangnan is characterized by waterside pavilions, gardens and business gang cultural landscapes. Its architectural style is in the form of ‘confluence of three rivers’. It contains two major theme sculptures and group sculptures of seven representative industries. It fully demonstrates the ‘Yongshang Spirit’ forged by Ningbo Gang over more than a hundred years – the patriotic sentiment of ‘returning to the roots when the tree grows tall’, the pioneering spirit of ‘daring to be the first in the world’, the open-minded thought of ’embracing all rivers’, the honest moral character of ‘being practical and without falsehood’, and the mutual assistance style of ‘stressing industry and righteousness’. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 16:30. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day. Supplementary notes on preferential policies: 1. Free policy: Children under 1.2 meters (inclusive) in height are free of charge. Elderly people aged 70 and above with senior citizen cards are free of charge. 2.
