The Feng Residence was built in the Ming Dynasty and was inhabited by descendants of Feng Shouji, provincial administrative commissioner of Huguang during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. The existing building was built in the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The Yu Residence was originally part of the former residence of Feng Shouji and was later sold to the Yu family. The existing one is an early Qing Dynasty building and is a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit. The Fengyu Residence is one of the large-scale and well-preserved ancient building complexes existing in Ningbo City, reflecting the style of Jiangnan architecture in the early Qing Dynasty. In 2009, it won the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation.
