In 2019, Associate Professor Cong Zhiqiang from the School of Arts at Renmin University of China led a team to Gejia Village, teaching the villagers to transform their homes with an artistic vision and creative hands. Over 40 art-sharing spaces and more than 300 cultural and creative products have been created in the village, making Gejia Village a well-known online art village.
Walking through the village, I encountered projects such as ‘Yunda’ Pizza, ‘Curator’s Pancake,’ ‘Fenxiaoxian Art Museum,’ and ‘Really Oil Your’ Fried Dough Twists, which have sparked the villagers’ entrepreneurial enthusiasm through art. From ‘a thousand villages with a thousand styles’ to ‘beauty shared by all,’ rural art has been ‘co-created.’
The village is open all year round from 10:00 to 17:30. Preferential policies include free entry for children under 1 meter in height and for Gejia Village residents with a Ninghai County Gejia Village ID card (for personal use only).
