Wu Zuoren Art Museum

Located to the west of the Twin Pagodas Garden, the Wu Zuoren Art Museum covers an area of 1430 square meters.
Mr. Wu Zuoren, originally from Anhui, settled in Suzhou with his father in the late Qing Dynasty. He was born and lived in Suzhou for over twenty years, developing a deep affection for the city. In 1989, he expressed his willingness to donate his artworks to Suzhou for permanent display.

The Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and the People’s Government, in recognition of Mr. Wu Zuoren’s contributions to Chinese art and his love for Suzhou, decided to build the Wu Zuoren Art Museum. The museum was completed by the end of 1993.

The museum houses 90 works donated by Mr. Wu Zuoren to his hometown, Suzhou, 10 works by his wife, Ms. Xiao Shufang, and 10 works by his grandfather and siblings, totaling 110 pieces. These include 18 oil paintings, 17 Chinese paintings, 15 calligraphy works, and 40 sketches and watercolors, showcasing the elegance of the Wu family’s artistic legacy.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:00, closed all day on Mondays (except for national holidays).
