Xiangfu Zen Temple is located in the secluded southern foothills of Qinlv Peak in Ma’anshan, Taihu Lake, Wuxi City. Initially constructed during the Tang Dynasty with the verse ‘Ancient people donated barren hills, establishing a temple at the site of Lingshan,’ it underwent several renovations through the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, eventually achieving a scale that reached the state described as ‘The lotus flower blooms from the Western Regions, and the Buddhist Dharma performs the highest Zen.’

On the south side of the Mahavira Hall in Xiangfu Zen Temple, to the left within the bell tower, hangs a large bronze bell, known as the ‘First Bell of Jiangnan.’ The term ‘First Bell’ refers to the weight and diameter of the bell. Weighing 12.8 tons, with a lower mouth diameter of 2.5 meters and an overall height of 3.5 meters, it is named ‘Xiangfu Zen Bell,’ and it is the largest bronze bell in the Jiangnan region to date.
