Pingmen Gate is located in the north of Suzhou City. In the past, Wu Zixu’s army that conquered the State of Qi marched out from this gate. After defeating the State of Qi and returning in triumph, they entered through this gate again, hence the name. The ancient Pingmen Gate had been blocked for a long time. In 1928, Pingmen Gate was reopened to facilitate transportation. In 1958, it was demolished. In September 2011, Suzhou City decided to reconstruct the Pingmen Gate city wall and move the gate westward. The city wall section of Pingmen Gate is an important backdrop for the south square of the railway station and an important node of the ancient city style protection belt around the city. Its restoration not only reflects the ancient city style but also provides a new place for citizens to visit, relax and sightsee. It also more centrally showcases the window image of the north gate of the railway station area. Opening hours: Open all year round from 6:00 to 22:00.
