Daming Lake Scenic Area is located in Hangkai Town, Anji County, known as the hometown of etiquette and culture. It has a long-standing tradition of admiring plum blossoms, drinking black plum tea, and tasting green plum wine.
Modern Shanghai-style painting master Wu Changshuo’s hometown, adjacent to Daming Lake, is Zhangwu Town. Wu Changshuo was fond of plum blossoms, and one-third of his life’s works were themed around them. As the saying goes, ‘Not even ten miles to the fragrant snow sea, plum blossoms remind me, and I remember the plums,’ elevating the spirit of plum blossoms to a new era, which is the foundation of national spirit and the atmosphere of the solar terms, undoubtedly also a manifestation of plum culture and its significant social influence.
The Daming Lake project in Anji spans a total of 8,500 acres, with 1,600 acres of plum forests covering the hills and fields, meticulously cultivated for nearly 30 years, with over 58,000 plum trees. When in full bloom, the layers upon layers of flowers create a surging wave of blossoms, a breathtaking sight.
The 5.2-kilometer ridge hiking trail, with over ten thousand steps, resembles a ‘miniature Great Wall of the South,’ offering a panoramic view of the undulating mountains from the summit. Strolling around the lake at the halfway point of the mountain, the clear waters reflect the wild plum blossoms covering the mountains, and on the waterside boardwalk, one can not only watch the sea of flowers in the lake but also feel the surrounding undulating floral waves, making it hard to move on.
The CCTV drama ‘Xia Ke Xing’ filmed scenes here, which are as if in a fairyland, once again highlighting the stunning beauty of Daming Lake.
