Beihai Shell Carving Museum

Beihai Shell Carving Museum is a museum themed on shell carving. The museum takes ‘inheriting Beihai shell carving skills and promoting Chinese traditional culture’ as its purpose and focuses on tourism. With the history of shells and the cultural axis of shell carving skills, it has specially set up areas such as the origin area of shell carving historical culture, production experience area, physical product area, and treasure area of the museum. It calls on all sectors of society to actively participate in the inheritance and protection of traditional handicrafts. The museum houses thousands of precious shell cultural relics, exquisite mother-of-pearl collections and more than a hundred masterpieces of shell carving. In order to provide tourists with a better experience of the historical development of Beihai shell carving, the shell carving museum is equipped with commentators for visiting groups to explain throughout the process. And it also has a special shell carving production experience platform to feel the shell carving production process.
