Chenxiang Pavilion

The old name of Chenxiang Pavilion is ‘Ciyun Zen Temple’. Covering an area of 2378 mu, it is a unique nunnery. Inside the pavilion are the Great Buddha’s Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Qielan Hall and the Memorial Hall of Master Yingci. Chenxiang Pavilion is famous for enshrining the ‘Chenxiang Guanyin’. Now, the Guanyin statue enshrined in the Guanyin Pavilion is the Ruyi Wheel Guanyin statue made of Aquilaria agallocha donated by believers in Hong Kong later. In front of the pavilion is a triple-eaved archway with four pillars and three gates. On it are the three characters ‘Chenxiang Pavilion’ inscribed by Sha Menghai. In the center of the Great Buddha’s Hall are the ‘Three Sages of Huayan’. In the middle is Vairocana Buddha. Manjusri and Samantabhadra stand on both sides as attendants. There are also Brahma and Indra, the two gods, guarding on both sides. This kind of worship style is also rare in temples in the south of the Yangtze River. Inside the Guanyin Pavilion is enshrined the Chenxiang Guanyin, which is known as the ‘Ruyi Wheel Guanyin’. Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:00 to 16:00.
