The China Art Museum, formerly known as the China National Pavilion during the Shanghai World Expo, is now open for visitors to leisurely explore its majestic architecture. Besides admiring the treasure of the museum, the multimedia version of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’, there are numerous modern artists’ works on display. The multimedia hall of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ is located on the 49-meter level. Since the closure of the World Expo, this version has been permanently housed here and remains a popular highlight within the China Art Museum. On the same level, there is also the ‘Moonrise Over the Sea — The Source of Modern Chinese Art’ exhibition, showcasing the fusion of Chinese and Western ‘Shanghai School’ paintings, which is a long-term display. From the high vantage point, one can overlook nearby iconic World Expo venues such as the Mercedes-Benz Arena through the windows. Other floors mainly exhibit various art works from modern Chinese artists, as well as temporary exhibitions of artworks from museums around the world. The temporary exhibitions change frequently, allowing visitors to enjoy art pieces from museums across the globe on an irregular basis. There are also many long-term exhibitions, including the ‘China Art Museum Collection of Shadow Puppetry Art Exhibition’, ‘Wu Language · Dialect — Shanghai Artists Invitation Exhibition’, and ‘He Youzhi’s Storytelling — Collection Donation Exhibition’ on the 0-meter level. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 all year round; it is closed all day on Mondays; and during New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, it is open from 10:00 to 18:00.
