China’s Milu Deer Park is located in Dafeng Forest Farm, on the shores of the Yellow Sea in central Jiangsu Province. The park encompasses 78,000 hectares of wetlands, characterized by a landscape that includes forests, reed beds, grasslands, marshes, and saline bare lands, forming a typical marine tidal flat wetland.
The protected area is home to a rich biodiversity, with 315 bird species, 12 mammal species, 27 amphibian and reptile species, 156 fish species, 90 plankton species, 599 insect species, and 499 plant species. In addition to the Milu deer, 31 species of national first and second-class protected animals such as the Red-crowned Crane, Oriental White Stork, White-tailed Sea Eagle, Chinese Grosbeak, and River Roe Deer are also found here. A total of 93 bird species are protected under the China-Japan Migratory Bird Protection Agreement.
Flocks of rare birds and wildlife, the vast expanse of reed beds, and the continuous fields of red fruit and salt artemisia create an enchanting ecological landscape, forming a naturally beautiful kingdom of flora and fauna. It can be said that the protected area boasts abundant species resources, beautiful natural scenery, vast tidal grasslands, and convenient transportation conditions, making it a nationally influential ecological tourism destination and an important base for the rescue and research of Yellow Beach tidal flat animals.
Furthermore, the newly established Milu Scientific Research and Training Center has successively hosted international wetland seminars and other significant domestic and international conferences.
Opening Hours: All year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
