Chongben Hall, though not large in area, boasts a compact and exquisite layout, with lake stones, flower terraces, azaleas, and red maples creating a delightful contrast.
Known worldwide for its rich and diverse brick and wood carvings, Chongben Hall is adorned with carvings throughout, featuring themes such as dramatic stories, flowers, food, and cultural relics. The hall consists of three sections from the main hall to the inner residence, housing over 100 wood carvings, each with unique content. The images are simple, bright, and vividly composed, with skillful and smooth carving techniques that leave viewers in awe.
Chongben Hall also serves as a Jiangnan Water Town Marriage Customs Museum, exhibiting actual items used in traditional weddings, such as clothing and dowries. Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening status.
