Danzhou Art Museum

Danzhou has a long history and many historical sites. Under the influence of a good cultural atmosphere, the people here love to compose poems and couplets. As a result, Danzhou is known as the ‘land of poetry and songs’. Danzhou has the titles of ‘National Poetry Township’, ‘Chinese Couplet Township’, ‘Chinese Folk Culture and Art Township’, and ‘Chinese Calligraphy Township’. With a broad mass base, profound historical and cultural inheritance, and diverse natural ecosystems, all these provide broad development space for art creation. The Danzhou Art Museum is an antique-style building located next to Danzhouyang Tower Forest Park on Zhongxing Avenue, Nada Town, Danzhou City. It has a good ecological environment, beautiful scenery, and rich surrounding tourism resources. Danzhou Experimental Field of Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences borders it. Hainan University Danzhou Campus and Hainan Film Academy are located nearby. It has a very rich humanistic foundation. It is about 2 kilometers away from the main urban area of Nada Town (where the municipal government is located). It is a 30-minute drive from Yangpu Economic Development Zone and Ocean Flower Island tourist complex. It has convenient transportation and complete municipal supporting facilities. The project officially started construction on August 8, 2016. The main structure was capped on April 28, 2017. The land area is 14,795.00 square meters, and the total construction area is about 7,296.83 square meters. It has one underground floor and four floors above ground. The art museum has 9 permanent exhibition halls, 1 tourist center, 1 main reception room, 3 studios, 1 multimedia exhibition hall, 3 training rooms, 10 offices, and 3 restaurants. The project was fully completed in early August 2024. It is currently a relatively large art museum in Hainan Province. After completion, the art museum is not only an institution for preserving, collecting, exhibiting, and researching artworks in Danzhou and even western Hainan, but also an innovative base for cultural exchanges and educational dissemination in Danzhou City.
