The magnificent Farnese Palace is located on the northern edge of the historical center of Piacenza and is an outstanding example of Renaissance architecture in Rome. Designed for the Farnese family in 1517, the palace houses a pinacoteca art gallery and four small museums, each exhibiting archaeological pieces, carriages, and materials related to Italian unification. The Civic Museum, the main one, displays the peculiar Etruscan ‘Il Fegato Etrusco di Piacenza’, a bronze sheep liver used for divination of the future. It operates from Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and from Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00. Accessibility services include wheelchair-accessible parking, entrances, and restrooms.
