For many, Guizhou Libo Xiaoqikong is a place synonymous with a mystical realm. The lush and beautiful virgin forests leave one speechless, the river water is so clear it’s hard to believe, and the sounds of the wind and the chirping of birds only make everything seem more tranquil. No wonder National Geographic rated it as ‘China’s Most Beautiful Place’ and Lonely Planet also said it is one of the most soul-stirring landscapes in the world. The Xiaoqikong Scenic Area is located in the mountains more than 30 kilometers south of Libo County, Qian Nan, Guizhou Province, named after a small ancient bridge with seven holes, with more than twenty large and small scenic spots scattered throughout, waiting to be discovered one by one along the tour route, as if exploring happily and interestingly in the Wizard of Oz. The verdant woods seem to drip with lushness, and the emerald valley waterfall splashes with sparkling waves, gently cascading down. Compared with the majestic grandeur of Huangguoshu and Detian Waterfalls, the winding emerald valley waterfall lacks a bit of aggressiveness but gains more agility and charm. The rapid waterfall converges into a deep pool, the water of which is as green as jade, surrounded by lush vegetation as if hiding this peerless jade. Just looking at the water is not enough; it’s fun to be able to splash around at any time. Walking into the water along the stone path, the stream water is crystal clear, and touching it with your hand feels cool and refreshing, a taste of summer! Walking slowly along the path in the forest, the sound of the water is either rushing or dripping, as if an endless piece of music, always accompanying you by your side and in your ears. The bridge is built rough and simple, and the water flows freely and unrestrained. While the Jiangnan water town is about the human touch of small bridges and flowing water, the combination of the bridge and water in Xiaoqikong is full of wild interest. The mountain trails are built along the terrain and the water flow, with ups and downs as if they also have the smoothness and sense of line of the water. Several large and small streams fall leisurely from the riverbed, gather in the flat pool and then diverge in the flat pool, constantly changing their pace. The water near the Xiaoqikong Bridge seems to have been enchanted, with the surface so calm that there is not a single ripple, and the trees are reflected in the water, making it difficult to distinguish whether it is a reflection or a real underwater forest. The Xiaoqikong Bridge is simple and beautiful, covered with ferns, showing its age. Since it was built in the Qing Dynasty, no matter how the world changes, the stone bridge has always been quietly protecting this scenery. The water under the bridge seems to be the color solidified in the paint bucket. It’s hard to imagine that water can also be described as gorgeous, and it’s hard to believe that water can also give a sense of thickness. The bridge is a very good place to take pictures and is also the most popular place to check in in the scenic spot. On weekends and holidays, the bridge is always crowded, and if you want to take a picture of the ethereal and beautiful big picture, you must choose to come during the off-peak travel time. Isn’t that off-peak time now?
