Haikou Mission Hills Golf Club

Mission Hills Golf has 10 18-hole volcanic rock golf courses. The black stones are jagged and stretch endlessly. The endless skyline, the boundless black bare rocks, lush ancient lychee trees, and low old stone walls. When you are in this volcanic rock course with green trees and stone walls, the natural volcanic stones under your feet will give you an illusion of being on the moon. You will enjoy a leisurely golf experience as if in ‘zero gravity’. Course No. 1 – Blackstone. This is a course that golf enthusiasts around the world yearn for and has attracted countless people who are keen on it. Covering an area of 350 acres (2,125 mu), it completely preserves the original geology of ten thousand-year volcanic lava rocks. In the return to nature, walk through the dense and secluded ancient forests and old trees and enjoy the constantly changing challenges. The design of this competition venue is unique, with a total length of more than 7808 yards, allowing the audience to watch the game from a broad perspective. Especially in the last few holes, the audience can witness the moment of victory from multiple angles. Only such a course can be a real world competition venue.

Course No. 2 – Sandbelt Trails. It has the distinct style of the famous belt-shaped sand course in Australia. The total length is more than 7,325 yards. The large white sand bunkers shining with white sand are a major feature of this course. On the open plain stretching with green grass, there are eucalyptus trees with Australian colors standing among the greens and teeing grounds at moderate distances, making people feel this refreshing green.

Course No. 3 – The Vintage. It continues the classic style of golf courses in the 19th century. The total length is more than 7,363 yards. The fairways are designed according to the mountain shape, maintaining the natural topography. Among the lush and secluded valleys and jungles, natural obstacles such as embankments, pot bunkers, ridges and long bunkers can be seen everywhere. The winding stone walls are unique.

Course No. 4 – Stepping Stone. It is a short par-three course. Hit one shot onto the green, and then it’s the putting on the green. The fairway is surrounded by volcanic rocks and large sand bunkers. This course blends seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscape.

Course No. 5 – Lava Fields. The unique natural mineral sand bunkers and ten thousand-year lava rocks are irregularly distributed all over the course. A wide-angle plain with sparse trees on both sides fully shows the desolate temperament and makes the view even wider. The sand and lava on the plain are perfectly integrated. It is indeed a unique golf course spectacle and a highly challenging international event course.

Course No. 6 – Meadow Links. Referring to the early traditional courses in the United States, it adopts a park-like layout. Lush trees are dotted on the open grassland. The fairways and obstacles form unique geometric shapes.

The ‘church pew’ style bunkers, densely grass-covered bunkers, and natural grass add a unique prairie feel to the golf course. The large green areas increase the difficulty of putting.

Seventh Course – Stone Quarry, this course incorporates all the unique style features related to the design of Mr. Bei Dai. Railway sleepers, abrupt mounds, snow-drift shaped obstacles, vast wasteland bunkers, devilishly small greens at times, and train carriage style bridges, all combined, create a very distinctive landscape feature. These landscapes are integrated into the winding course, along with the ancient volcanic rock-like primitive terrain, and steep stone walls, dense bushes, adding a lot to the eye-catching scenery of the entire course. The original landscape of the course comes from the remnants of old coal cars, railway tracks, and abandoned mining equipment. The style of the course is very straightforward and sporty, requiring aggressive and powerful shots. In today’s ‘ultra-long yardage’ golf course ranks, it is a kind and fun alternative.

Eighth Course – Double Pin, this 18-hole, 3-iron course combines unique and clear style features, with each green having two cups. Such green design is to provide two options: one simpler and easier to estimate in position, and the other much more difficult. Botanical garden-style landscaping gives a very enjoyable atmosphere filled with various trees and flowers, complementing the blue sky and fresh air of Haikou. Golfers of all skill levels can find fun that suits their mood and technique on this course. Family members, beginners, and professional players can all play or practice here, spending a pleasant and beautiful day.

Ninth Course – The Preserve, with dense palm groves as the backbone of the green area, sets the tone for this easy-to-play, beautiful landscape course with a modern design style. Wide fairways are punctuated by bunkers, and the green areas are surrounded by mounds, with the putting surface in the middle following modern principles. A large number of flowering shrubs and ground cover plants form a bright and vivid landscape area, creating a dominant impression throughout the course. The palm groves effectively block the sunlight, providing comfort and relaxation.

Tenth Course – Shadow Dunes, takes people into the ‘world of sand’, with tall dunes and local vegetation found on the vast beaches of Hainan Island as the landscape, presenting a distinctive environmental condition.
However, it is not a beach course, but rather characterized by its undulating shapes and greens within the resort area. These wild green designs may lead to some terrifying long-distance putts, yet it is not a course that can be easily conquered by distance alone. The precision of short-distance putts on the greens is equally important for golfers. As a course that is approximately only 6600 yards with a par of 70, the close connection between the tee boxes and greens greatly facilitates walking within it and significantly reduces the time required for playing. The entire course is open all year round from 07:00 to 19:00, based on sunrise and sunset times, with the last tee-off time before 16:00.
