Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden is a national AAAA-level tourist scenic area with the themes of popular science exhibition of rare wild animals and plants, protection and reproduction, sightseeing tourism, and leisure vacation. It is a natural museum that presents an island-type tropical rainforest ecosystem in a panoramic view and condenses the essence of Hainan Island’s animals and plants. Established in 1995, Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park and Botanical Garden is located by the beautiful Dongshan Lake in Dongshan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, only 27 kilometers away from downtown Haikou. The park covers an area of more than 1,500 mu (of which only the animal viewing area covers an area of 1,300 mu). There are currently more than 100 kinds of rare birds and beasts, with more than 2,000 individuals. There are 280 families and more than 1,000 varieties of rare tropical plants, and the tropical forest coverage rate is as high as 99%. Entering the scenic area is like entering a natural ‘big oxygen bar’; during the tour, it is like taking a wonderful ‘forest bath’. The landscapes in the park are purely natural. The vast forest and dense plants create a good living environment for animals; and the artificially opened jungle paths and various exotic flowers and plants make tourists seem to be in a nature full of birdsong and flowers and full of vitality, entering a beautiful, diverse, thrilling and interesting jungle animal world.
Tour experience. The scenic area is mainly divided into a vehicle tour area and a pedestrian tour area. The vehicle tour area has changed the pattern of caging beasts in high walls and iron cages of urban zoos. All kinds of fierce beasts are naturally free-range. Tourists drive through the vehicle tour area for fierce beasts, fully experiencing the wonderful feeling of ‘people in cages and beasts outside’. The main star animals in the scenic area are: national treasure giant pandas, Hainan Eld’s deer, Asian elephants, giraffes, African lions, Siberian tigers, ligers, white-cheeked gibbons, black bears, milu deer, macaques, hippos, black swans, flamingos, etc.
The Flamingo Restaurant in the scenic area covers an area of 1,600 square meters and can accommodate more than 600 people for dining at the same time. In addition to being fresh, the dish ingredients of the restaurant are also natural green foods, mainly featuring Hainan’s local specialty cuisines. Opening hours.
