Hanxiang Water Park in Shanghai is a water ecological garden built by Pengdu Village, Matang Town, Minhang District, to protect the safety of Shanghai’s drinking water intake. It is a key tourism project in the suburbs of Shanghai. The park covers an area of 400 acres, adjacent to the Huangpu River, and is an ancient bridge museum, a protected area for famous ancient trees, and a rare classical garden in Shanghai that integrates water, bridges, pavilions, platforms, buildings, towers, trees, flowers, grasses, and wood. The water park consists of an ancient ecological area, an ancient cultural area, and a rural sightseeing park. The ancient ecological area mainly consists of rivers, ancient bridges, ancient trees, landscape stones, and ancient-style buildings. It is characterized by simplicity, nature, and wild interest. There are more than 600 ancient trees over a hundred years old in the park, 25 relocated ancient bridges, and two science popularization venues built inside. The ancient cultural area focuses on excavating and displaying the water culture of the Huangpu River, the ancient culture of Matang, and the historical cultural celebrities of Matang. It includes the Matang Ancient Cultural Relics Simulation Museum, Dong Qichang Academy, etc. The rural sightseeing park mainly features modern agricultural sightseeing, the life of farmhouses along the Huangpu River, and the display of local culture and leisure and entertainment of farmhouses. It has eight major projects: agricultural ecological display area, riverbank village display hall, aquatic economic crop park, fruit tree planting area, fishing area, shopping and leisure street, farmhouse resort, and agricultural science and technology display hall.
