Houtong is located in Guangfu, Gongqiao and Houtong Sanli in Ruifang District, New Taipei City
In the past, coal mining was the main production activity
Surrounding characteristic attractions include the coal transportation bridge, Ruisan Mining Coal Preparation Plant, Jinzibei Ancient Trail, Sandiaoling Waterfall and Houtong Railway Station
Since the mining settlement in Houtong is still relatively intact and highly representative, in order to preserve the living history of Taiwan’s coal mine development, the New Taipei City government spent five years and invested NT$200 million in planning and renovating relevant factory buildings and facilities in the mining area to establish the ‘Houtong Coal Mine Museum Park’, reproducing the characteristic features of Houtong’s coal mine industrial ecological settlement
Tourists can return to the time and space of those years and deeply experience the years that Houtong has gone through
It can be called a new cultural attraction in northern Taiwan
Whether driving here or riding a bicycle, there are complete traffic routes and parking lots, which are worth savoring
