Jiǎnǎo Miao Village is a Miao ethnic village in Huìshān Town, located 2 kilometers away from the town center on the east bank of the Wanquan River, with a total of 123 households and 613 people. Since the initiation of the ‘Lí Miáo Charm Town’ construction in Huìshān Town in 2014, Jiǎnǎo has become a strong point in the rural tourism development of Huìshān. In 2014, it was awarded as a ‘Characteristic Village in Qionghai City’, and in 2015, it was honored as ‘China Rural Tourism Model Village’. In the creation of the characteristic Miao village of Jiǎnǎo, the town committee and government have adhered to the strategic deployment of the municipal party committee and government to ‘create a garden city and build a happy Qionghai’, always following the principle of ‘no tree cutting, no land occupation, no house demolition, and urbanization on site’. Integrating Miao culture, taking advantage of the situation and scenery, and according to plans, priorities, and steps, they have created characteristic attractions and industries such as Penglai Bay, Miao Family Inn, Bamboo Garden, and Miao Family Fun. ‘Suō Miao Family Fun’ was awarded ‘China Rural Tourism Agricultural Homestay’, and its owner, Li Jiaquan, was honored as ‘China Rural Tourism Wealth Leading Person’. Cycling trails, suspension bridges, mountain trails, and waterfall exploration are great places to relax and get close to nature. The colorful rice, Jiǎnǎo geese, Shanlan wine, and roasted mountain rats are mouth-watering and memorable. Jiǎnǎo Miao Village has attracted CCTV’s ‘Chinese Flavor’ and ‘Cities’, Hainan Tourism Satellite TV’s ‘Hainan Chronicles’, and other programs to come for shooting. In August 2015, the Municipal Party Committee Organization Department produced a special film ‘The Red Flag of Miao Village’ to promote the experience of setting up positions and responsibilities for non-official party members in Huìshān. In November, Hainan News Broadcast’s special report ‘Loyalty is Infinite, Our Village Officials Have Strength’ reported on how Wang Jiazhe, the leader of the Mutang Party Branch, led everyone to build the Miao village and become wealthy together. Today, under a series of effective measures of poverty alleviation and tourism poverty alleviation, Jiǎnǎo Miao Village is steadily moving forward with a new posture. Miao people who start their own businesses are taking advantage of the beautiful rural tourism and eating the tourism meal at their own doorstep, embarking on the road to wealth.
