The promontory was once artificially extended into the lake, dividing the water into two lower-lying branches, a testament to the ingenuity of Alessandro Serbelloni, one of the noble and wealthy Lombard family leaders of the time. If traveling by bus from Como to Bellagio, be prepared for the winding mountain roads, fast speeds, and sharp turns. If prone to motion sickness, it is advisable to have medication ready. 2.
