Lingshui River, commonly known as Daxi River by the locals, was historically referred to as Lingmudan River, Lingzha River, and Linggong River. It is the fourth largest river in Hainan. Originating from Xianfang Ridge in Baoting County, it flows through Baoting’s Ba Village and Shi Ling into Lingshui County. The river continues through Qunying, Nanping, Timon, Yelin, and Lingcheng, eventually emptying into the South China Sea at Shuikou Port. The main tributaries of the Lingshui River include Baoting River and Duzong River. The upper reaches of the Lingshui River are known as Shi Ling River, which becomes the Lingshui River after merging with Shi Dong River. The catchment area is 1,131 square kilometers, the main stream is 73.5 kilometers long, with a slope of 3.13‰ and a total drop of 1,059 meters. The average annual rainfall is 2,040 millimeters, the average annual runoff is 1.41 billion cubic meters, and the average annual flow is 44.7 cubic meters per second.
