Long Chuan Gorge Scenic Area

Long Chuan Gorge Scenic Area is located within Baihe Town and is one of the later developed attractions in Tiantai. It may not be as famous as Guoqing Temple or Qiongtai Xiangu, but its scenery, featuring waterfalls and canyons, is by no means inferior. The dam and reservoir on the mountaintop also leave a deep impression. The winding suspended plank road, exciting zip line, and slides all offer experiences close to nature. Compared to the steep mountain paths of Qiongtai Xiangu, the walking trails in Long Chuan Gorge are much easier to navigate. The scenic area has only one entrance and exit, and one can walk around the circular trail in a clockwise direction to view all the scenery without retracing steps. The area is divided into ten parts, with highlights including Xiu Xi Guan Pu, Wu Xie Liu Quan, Tai Bai Lin Feng, Long Chuan Po Bi, and Tian Chi Yu Cui. Upon entering the scenic area, one is greeted by a corridor bridge named ‘Taiyue Chunqiu Xuan’, from which one can view the Sima Waterfall cascading down from an 80-meter cliff. Opposite the corridor bridge is Xia Ke Ping, a large platform with a small shop for supplies. To the left is Xiu Xi Valley and the steps leading up the mountain. The main attraction in Xiu Xi Valley is the Sima Waterfall, where visitors can walk along the stream-side path to get close to the waterfall. Near the ground, a row of eaves has been constructed, forming a small ‘water curtain cave’, where some tourists walk under the eaves with umbrellas, especially refreshing in the summer. Further ahead is the Wu Xie Liu Quan area, where the waterfall has a total drop of over a hundred meters, with the thin and long water flow divided into five sections cascading down the cliff in layers, named from bottom to top: Liao Ling Waterfall, Zi Yang Waterfall, Ling Bao Waterfall, Bai He Waterfall, and Xiao Xiang Waterfall, each with a unique shape and a touch of Taoist elegance. Tourists can climb up the cliff-side plank road to visit the first four sections of the waterfall, with the end of the plank road leading to the third area ‘Tai Bai Lin Feng’. This area references some allusions related to Li Bai, and while it doesn’t have much to see, it is an excellent viewing platform in Long Chuan Gorge. From any platform here, one can enjoy a very open view. Beyond the Fairy Rock is a valley filled with chaotic rocks, some of which have been artificially decorated with facial features to make them more lifelike. Going upstream against the creek, one can hear the roar of the Long Chuan Waterfall from afar. It is also a spectacular waterfall in the scenic area, surprising visitors with its drop and water volume, with some even considering it more impressive than the large and small Dragon Ponds in Yandang. Tourists can walk up close to the waterfall to appreciate it, and all the way to the top of the mountain dam to capture the full view of the Long Chuan Waterfall and the entire canyon. On a good day, one can even see a rainbow formed by the water mist. The dam is another highlight of Long Chuan Gorge. Walking on the top of the dam, on the left is the full view of the waterfall and canyon, while on the right is the shimmering surface of Tian Chi Lake. You can rest here, enjoy the view, and take a bamboo raft to appreciate the scenery on the lake. The adventurous can also try the zip line to cross the lake in mid-air.

On the other side of the lake lies the leisure and entertainment area. From here, you can follow the trail downhill to return to the main entrance. The downhill path does not offer any remarkable views, and the road is not very easy to walk on. However, you can take a slide directly to Xia Ke Ping at the foot of the mountain, which is both energy-saving and fun. The ticket prices for the zip line, slide, and bamboo raft lake sightseeing are all 30 yuan each, and there is a certain discount for purchasing a package ticket.
