Lu Youren Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum is the first privately-run museum approved to open to the public in Zhejiang Province, and it is currently the only traditional Chinese medicine museum in the country funded by private capital. The museum houses a diverse collection of Chinese medicine specimens, quaint and exquisite medicine grinding stones and knives, and rich ancient medical scriptures. Stepping into it is like stepping into a condensed 5000-year history of traditional Chinese medicine. The owner of this traditional Chinese medicine museum is Lu Youren, a folk Chinese medicine practitioner known by the locals as ‘Medicine Enthusiast’. Lu Youren’s collection includes more than 1000 pieces of ancient pharmaceutical tools, over 20,000 volumes of ancient Chinese medical books, and more than 2000 types of animal and plant Chinese medicine specimens made by himself. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-16:00, from January 1st to December 31st; it is closed all day on Mondays.
