Manka Fude Palace

Manka Fude Palace, also known as Manka Fude Mansion, is an earlier earth temple in Manka, Taipei City. It was relocated to Changsha Park due to the widening of Xichang Street. In 1709 (the 48th year of Emperor Kangxi), people from Quanzhou applied for reclaiming Manka under the reclamation number ‘Chen Laizhang’. At first, they built several thatched huts at the mouth of the Daxi River in the Shamachu Society to live in. Later, the number of immigrants gradually increased, forming a market called ‘Sweet Potato Market’. Around 1720, in order to provide a place for early immigrants to worship the local land gods, a small earth temple was built in the area of Xichang Street not far from Guiyang Street, which is now the Manka Fude Palace.
