The Mazu Cultural Village is located at Dieshitang Mountain on Coloane Island, facing the sea with its back to the mountains. The giant white marble statue of Mazu is particularly eye-catching. The village features a corridor, a mountain gate, an altar, a main hall, a dressing pavilion, a bell tower, and a drum tower. Between the stone steps leading to the Tianhou Palace are bluestone reliefs depicting auspicious animals such as qilin, lions, cranes, dragons, and tigers, all with exquisite craftsmanship. In front of the main hall’s porch stand eight round, hollow-carved bluestone columns with large-scale patterns symbolizing happiness and good fortune. The village is open all year round from 00:00 to 23:59. A must-see tip: Every year around November, the Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival is held, which is a great opportunity to experience the local beliefs.
