The predecessor of Nanjing University can be traced back to Nanjing Imperial College in the Three Kingdoms period. The modern school history began with Sanjiang Normal School in 1902. Currently, there are two campuses, Gulou and Xianlin. The Gulou campus with concentrated ancient buildings is the main campus for tourists to visit. Walk in the campus with lush shade and recall campus life.

North Building: The North Building of the Gulou campus is a landmark of Nanjing University and belongs to a Western-style brick-wood structure building. Mr. Yu Guangzhong once sighed that ‘ivy covers the North Building’. It is still the case now, and the red star on the roof is particularly eye-catching.
Stele: In front of the old library, there are two simple steles of ‘Sanjiang Normal School’ and ‘Jinling University Hall’, recording the history of Nanjing University. If you are interested in history, you can visit the adjacent school history museum.
Zhongshan Building: In addition, the Zhongshan Building is also worth seeing. The southeast corner of the campus is the former residence of John Rabe. The well-known ‘Diary of John Rabe’ was written here. The ancient buildings on the campus are worthy of careful appreciation from the eaves to the wall carvings and are also very suitable for taking pictures as souvenirs. When osmanthus flowers are full on the branches and the fragrance pervades everywhere, walking among them is even more pleasant.
Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:30 to 19:00. Advance reservation is required for visiting the campus. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
