National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum is located across various regions, formed by the union of two museums: the Archaeological Museum, established in 1862, and the Brera Numismatic Museum, established in 1808. The main building of the Archaeological Museum was originally constructed on the site of a convent of the Church of San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore. The museum’s exhibitions feature archaeological findings from Greece, Etruria, Rome, and Gandhara. Artifacts are displayed in different halls according to their cultural origins. The first floor leads to the ancient Milan area after passing through a cloister, and descending further takes you to the medieval Milan area, Caesarea, and the Gandhara section. Proceeding to the next cloister, you can follow a passage to a polygonal tower building, where a series of medieval frescoes are displayed. Ascending the tower brings you back to the early medieval area on the first floor. The third and fourth floors are dedicated to the Greek section, showcasing Greek society and daily life. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 17:30 all year round. Accessibility services include: accessible entrances, accessible restrooms.
