Nine-Bend Bridge

A visit to the City God Temple is incomplete without a stroll across the winding Nine-Bend Bridge, where one can observe the koi fish beneath the bridge and admire the pavilion by the lake. Whether taking photos or feeding the fish, it’s an enjoyable experience. The bridge features nine turns and eighteen bends, each with varying angles, some greater than a right angle and others less. The current bridge surface is made of granite slabs, with each bend adorned with a carving of a seasonal flower, such as narcissus in January, apricot blossoms in February, peach blossoms in March…up to December’s wintersweet; while the slabs at the head and tail of the bridge each feature a lotus flower carving. On the bridge segment in front of the Lake Pavilion Tea House, a lotus flower is carved in the center, with four corners depicting colorful clouds. The statue of the lotus fairy in white marble stands gracefully in the pond, smiling to welcome visitors. The Nine-Bend Bridge provides access to the Lake Pavilion Tea House, which is open all day, every day of the year, with specific business hours subject to daily conditions.
