Located in the Xuhui campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Qian Xuesen Library covers a total land area of 9,300 square meters with a construction area of 8,188 square meters. It consists of one underground floor and three above-ground floors, with an exhibition area of over 3,000 square meters. The basic exhibition inside the library is divided into four parts: the founder of China’s space industry, the pioneer of the frontier of science and technology, the demeanor of a people’s scientist, and the successful path of a strategic scientist. The library houses over 76,000 documents, manuscripts, and books of Comrade Qian Xuesen, more than 1,500 precious photos, and over 700 physical items. It also features cultural facilities such as a resource hall, thematic exhibition hall, and academic exchange hall. The library is closed all day on Mondays throughout the year, and open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays. On New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day, it is also open from 09:00 to 17:00. Service facilities include free Wi-Fi: Account: i-shanghai; Password: Obtained through registration on official channels via SMS login password, accessible by logging in through the unified portal website for wireless internet access. The range is the entire library. Luggage storage is available with a reference price of free for small items within the dimensions of 45cm*50cm*40cm. Valuables must be carried and kept safely by visitors to prevent loss or damage. Audio guide rental services are provided for visitors to the library. The self-service audio guide devices currently have detailed information about the exhibits and can offer audio tours in both Chinese and English, with a total guide content duration of 60 minutes. For renting self-service audio guide devices, please go to the front desk service center to handle the rental procedures. Valid identification (ID card, student card, driver’s license, passport, etc.) or a deposit (100 RMB per item) is required as collateral. Each person can rent one device per ID, and it is free to use. If the audio guide device is damaged due to human error during the rental period, the renter must compensate according to the degree of damage. If lost, the renter must compensate at the original price of the item.
