Renyitan, a reservoir brimming with greenery and pleasant scenery, is located within the territory of Fanlu Township
Its naturally irregular shape, the long embankment along the reservoir, and the mist rising from the lake that envelops the long dike create a pathway that leads deep into a picturesque scene
Ahead lies a deep pond as calm as a mirror, occasionally disturbed by fish breaking the surface, and in the distance, the mountains enveloped by mist with wild birds occasionally flying across, adding infinite beauty to Renyitan
Due to the rapid development of industry and commerce in the Chiayi area, coupled with a sharp increase in population, the public water supply and industrial water usage relying solely on the Lantan Reservoir and groundwater were insufficient
In light of this, the government actively planned and constructed Renyitan Reservoir to the east of Lantan in 1979, which officially began impounding water in August 1987
It operates in conjunction with Lantan Reservoir, providing drinking water for the entire Chiayi County and City, and has become a popular leisure destination for residents during holidays
By the Renyitan, there are pavilions built with lush flora and expansive views, making it an ideal spot to enjoy the scenery, relax, and watch the sunset and twilight clouds with poetic charm
The surrounding area also features the historical site of ‘Yipin Furen Tomb’, a third-grade cultural relic, and the serene ‘Yuxu Palace’
Additionally, there is a well-planned embankment walkway by the reservoir where many tourists can be seen taking walks and exercising
Apart from the fresh air, Renyitan offers a unique experience of blending with the natural starry sky at night, with shimmering waves that captivate visitors and make them linger
The reservoir is open all year round, accessible 24/7
A must-see tip is to take a walk on the dam in the morning, where a cool breeze meets you, and the view of the water and sky merging into one, undisturbed by waves, with seagulls flapping their wings, truly makes it a wonderful place to be
