The grand opening exhibition ‘Rodin: The Birth of Modern Sculpture’ meticulously organized by Shanghai·Rodin (Centre d’Art Rodin (Shanghai)) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, will officially debut on September 28, 2024. The exhibition includes six main chapters and two special chapters, showcasing a collection of 106 works encompassing sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and images, all of which are originals. Notable pieces include the collection from the Rodin Museum in France, such as ‘The Thinker’, ‘The Age of Bronze’, ‘Eve’, ‘Balzac’, and ‘The Burghers of Calais’, which are highly influential and representative in the art of sculpture. Shanghai·Rodin, authorized by the Rodin Museum in France and with ownership of the collection, is an independently operated cultural institution located in the former French Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo Cultural Park in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. It is positioned as a high-end cultural and leisure complex. As a teaching practice base for the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, the center is committed to providing high-quality cultural services to the public through the organization of museum-level domestic and international exhibitions, forums, seminars, and lectures, to meet the cultural needs of Shanghai citizens for a better life. The main building of the center, designed by French architect Jacques Ferrier, was originally the French Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. It covers an area of over 8,000 square meters, with an exhibition space of 4,200 square meters. Its unique architectural structure allows visitors to enter the venue from all sides, bringing art closer to the public and making it an open, connected, and warm cultural and artistic center. The opening times are from 09/28 to 12/31, subject to on-site information.
