The exhibition system of Shanghai History Museum is composed of basic exhibitions, special exhibitions and temporary exhibitions. The basic exhibitions are located in the east building and consist of ‘Ancient Shanghai’ and ‘Modern Shanghai’. The first floor is the ‘preface hall’, the second floor is ‘Ancient Shanghai’, and the third and fourth floors are ‘Modern Shanghai’ and the ‘tail hall’. At the same time, special exhibitions and temporary exhibitions are located in the south hall on the first floor of the east building and on the first to third floors of the west building. In addition, combined with its architectural characteristics and following the principle of ‘taking urban history as the context and revolutionary history as the focus’, the venue comprehensively combs the historical context of Shanghai and shows important nodes and major revolutionary historical events in various historical periods of urban development. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year from 09:00 to 17:00; closed all day on Monday throughout the year; open from 09:00 to 17:00 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Tomb Sweeping Day, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. Must-see tips: 1. It is open to the public free of charge with a daily limit of 10,000 people. 2. Group visits of more than 20 people need to be reserved 3 days in advance.
