Shanqin Bay Golf Club is located on the central-eastern coast of Hainan Province, at the transition zone between the subtropical and tropical regions. It is situated on the extended line of the Boao Asian Forum Yudaitan, between Qionghai City and Wanning City, just 16 kilometers away from the international tourist town of Boao, and is a part of the eastern tourism industry development belt and the Boao seaside scenic area of Hainan Province. The club enjoys an advantageous traffic location, adjacent to the Longgun and Boao exits of the Hainan Eastern Ring Island Expressway and the eastern high-speed railway station in Boao, and is only a 15-minute drive from the under-construction Boao International Airport.
The club covers an area of over 2000 acres, consisting of an 800-acre 18-hole international championship golf course and a 1000-acre pristine coastal resort area. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, the golf course boasts magnificent views and unique terrain, making it a distinctive cliff and sea view golf club in Asia. The course was designed and partially constructed by the renowned American classical designer Bill Coore, marking one of his works in China. It was jointly built by Shenzhen Sunway Group, a major golf design, construction, and management company in China, and American Landscapes Unlimited, one of the world’s largest golf course construction companies, serving as a successful example of Sino-American cooperation in the field of golf.
Even before its opening, the course was nominated in the top three Asian golf courses of 2012 by Australia’s Golf Planet and in the top three new golf courses in the Asia-Pacific region by Singapore’s Asian Pacific Golf Group in 2012, a rare honor internationally. The club’s clubhouse stands majestically on the high cliffs overlooking the sea at Shanqin Bay, built on the site of the original Shanqin Bay radar navigation station, blending historical vicissitudes with modern architectural art, and is quite distinctive. The total construction area of the clubhouse is 4500 square meters, divided into two levels following the natural slope of the mountain. The clubhouse is fully equipped, featuring a main dining area, a 270-degree sea view VIP room, a solid wood outdoor platform for viewing the sea, a leisure bar, and auxiliary facilities such as an outdoor chipping and putting practice green and a leisure lawn, offering both exclusivity and relaxation. Standing on the sea-view platform and leaning on the railing, one can overlook the magnificent scenery of the golf course and gaze into the vast South China Sea, experiencing the ever-changing weather and spectacular views.
