Shenggui Grottoes is located to the north of the city. It is said that after the Eastern Jin Dynasty general Liu Laozhi defeated Sun Yong and returned victoriously, he stationed his troops on the mountain, hence the name Shenggui Mountain.
During the Ming Dynasty, Hu Zongxian, who triumphed over the Japanese pirates, stationed his troops here on multiple occasions. In memory of him, a statue of Hu Zongxian was carved on the southern slope of the mountain, known as ‘Hu Gong Yan’.
