Shenlong Valley is one of the places in Suichang to explore the beautiful scenery of forests and waterfalls. People mainly come here to see the Shenlong Waterfall with a huge drop. The green plants in the mountains are lush, the air is fresh, and it is even cool in summer. A plank road is built along the water flow and mountain terrain. Walking on it gives a feeling of integrating into nature and is suitable for leisure and play. Due to the large span of the scenic area, the exit and entrance are not in the same place. Tourists descend all the way along the stream-side trail from the upper entrance. Along the way, they pass through eight themed areas such as Remembering Suichang, Startled by a Dream in the Garden, Forest Bath Bar, Tang Xianzu’s Dream Quest, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, General Breaks Through the Wall, Shenlong Emerges from the Mountains, and Admiring the Loftiness. It takes about two to three hours. At the end is the lower exit. You can leave from here or take the shuttle bus in the scenic area back to the entrance (5 yuan/person). The entire tour is not too tiring. After entering the scenic area, the first waterfall encountered is the ‘Qingyuan Waterfall’ named after Tang Xianzu’s courtesy name, and the ‘Liniang Waterfall’ named after the characters in ‘The Peony Pavilion’. This area mainly focuses on the history and culture of Suichang. If you pay attention to the couplets on the buildings, there are many things to ponder. In the later Startled by a Dream in the Garden and Forest Bath Bar, there are small pavilions named after ‘The Peony Pavilion’ and ‘The Palace of Eternal Life’, where you can rest and take pictures. There are also tea rooms for a short stay. When you reach ‘Tang Xianzu’s Dream Quest’, it is the essence of Shenlong Valley, the ‘Shenlong Waterfall’ landscape. This waterfall is divided into three levels, with an entire drop of more than 300 meters. The mountains in the valley are steep. From afar, you can hear the roar of the waterfall. Tang Xianzu Waterfall has a drop of 60 meters, and the drops of the latter two levels increase in turn. The viewing platforms around the waterfall are also named after Tang Xianzu’s works. The Nanke Platform is a good place for viewing and can get close to the waterfall to feel the water vapor blowing towards you. It is very cool in summer. Continuing forward, the Huanyu Platform is for viewing the second-level waterfall – General Waterfall. General Waterfall is the wider one among the three-level waterfalls. There is a path leading to the bottom of the second-level waterfall, where you can go down to take pictures. The third-level waterfall at the back has a large drop and flows down from a cliff hundreds of meters high, which is very spectacular. However, this can only be viewed from a distance on the opposite side. Standing on the viewing platform and looking across the valley, it feels like being in a cloud. The later part of the tour is themed on the Red Army. Looking down while walking on the plank road, you can see the forests and terraced fields in the mountains, and the scenery is pleasant. More than ten kilometers downstream of the stream, Dashan Village has Shenlong Valley rafting. For about three hours and two kilometers, it costs about 168 yuan. In addition, in terms of location, Shenlong Valley is very close to Nanjianyan, but there is no direct bus. Generally, people will drive or charter a car and arrange to play in one day.
